The mainstream media is calling it a commitment ceremony but we all know the deal. In Africa, it is called a traditional ceremony; this ceremony has the same rights conveyed if not more in some instances to the official wedding ceremony!

According to us magazine

"Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou held a commitment ceremony in his native Benin, Africa over the summer, a source confirms to Usmgazine.com.

"The couple is very happy and dedicated to each other one hundred percent," Simmons' rep tells Us.

The source tells Us the couple -- currently expecting their first child together -- went to Africa to meet Hounsou's family and decided to have the traditional ceremony "since they knew it was a special opportunity to all be together.""

I'm happy for them. I'm African American married to a Nigerian man. The best part of my traditional wedding was having to dress up in traditional clothes, and tie the headscarf, it was beautiful. It just meant a lot as opposed to the typical American weddings. It was different, but I enjoyed every part of it, even though i did not understand everything.
