Wealthy parents, PAID super star kids
Some of Nigeria’s reigning artistes are not new to the good things of life. They have seen and enjoyed wealth before they got into the limelight. Saturday Beats digs into the background of some of these artistes whose parents had made it big in life
David Adeleke popularly known as Davido, got himself into people’s consciousness when he introduced himself as ‘O.B.O, Omo baba olowo’ which means a rich man’s kid in his hit song, ‘Dami duro’.
Why wouldn’t he, when he has a father like Dr. Deji Adeleke, chairman of Keplo-Pacific Energy Pacific, a company which is into banking, steel, power and energy.
Davido’s father is also the founder and pro-chancellor of Adeleke University, Ede in Osun State. Davido’s uncle, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, is a former Governor of Osun State. The music star once said his father tried to stop him from singing when he started, but has finally given his blessings and is supporting him every step of the way.
With this amount of riches and support, fans wonder why Davido dropped another hit song titled, ‘Back When’, where he depicted himself as someone that was once broke with nobody wanting to snap photos of him or talk to him. Who wouldn’t want to be associated with a rich man’s kid?
Davido is doing so well in the music industry as he didn’t just make a very successful debut in the Nigerian music scene, but accelerated to the A-list spot, something that has taken other A-listers years to achieve. So far, he has released a debut album with chart topping singles, won international awards and performed in and out of the country. He is also the face of MTN Pulse, which is quite a lot of money for the young chap.

After 10 years of observing the industry from behind the scenes, Chukkie Edozien, popularly known as Lynxxx came into the music scene in December 2009 with the release of his first official single, “Change your Parade” which wasn’t really a hit until he released ‘Fine Lady’.

He is also a former governor of Delta State. He is the chairman of a number of Nigerian companies including Jenkyns Consult Nigeria Limited and Mercedes Benz Automobile Services Limited. He also holds other directorate positions in several companies. He serves as Director of Linkage Assurance Plc and Diamond Bank Plc since April 18, 2008.
Lynxxx is doing well for himself in the music industry as he became the first Nigerian artiste to be endorsed by the global brand, Pepsi. This endorsement set him on the path of realizing his dream to become a global ambassador for Nigerian music. His endorsement sets him on the same pedestal with Akon, the fist African artiste to be endorsed, as well as Rihanna, Madonna and the late Michael Jackson. He is also tagged a ‘ladies’ man’ in the industry.
Tillaman
Prince Adetona Adeyemi, popularly known as Tillaman sets himself as a real Omo oba in his songs, describing any other prince in the industry as fake.
Only a few people know that Tillaman is a 1st class Prince, being the son of His Royal Highness, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, the Alaafin of Oyo. “Baba Dadi Wan” is Tillaman’s new video/single in which he tries to inform all that he is a real prince after he shot the video in his father’s palace.
Although Tillaman is still an up and coming artiste, he has a hit song titled ‘Ko ma roll’ in which he featured stars like Ice Prince, Iyanya, Trigga, Phyno and Burna Boy in the remix. He definitely is doing well for himself.
