5 YOUNG CELEBS WITH MORE VALUE THAN LOUBOUTINS! REALLY???
Oh my word we love this list from genmag it is hilarious five young celebrities with more value than Louboutins? I do not know whether to take that as a complement or what not! But I am sure you would love to see the list right? here it is!
Toni Payne
When Toni suffered a marital set-back, it seemed the world had crashed in on her. There were accusations of adultery and betrayal. 9ice had sent out a press release, through his publicists, that expressed his wish to move on without Toni. Names were called; people who other people claimed Toni had been with. Some said she “looked down” on her husband who wasn’t as educated or refined as she was. They talked about the abuse and Toni staying in a hotel with her son. And then all the spills and interviews granted in tabloids. It was ugly and messy. Not too many people would give Toni a chance to redeem herself. But she didn’t let the incident affect her significance in an industry she was bent on being a part of. Toni runs her own PR management company, she has her own reality TV show (My Champayne Life), and has managed and worked with some of the big names in the industry- from Onyeka Onwenu to Tu Face, W4 etc. She holds a very positive outlook to life and continues to stand by her man, pushing the popularity of his work despite his (or her) shortcoming. She could have allowed the complexity of the situation turn her into a bitter witch but she didn’t. And we all must agree, she works as hard as a bull and looks as fab as a princess!
2. Sasha
When Sasha started commercial rap, we didn’t give her a chance. When other “femcees” emerged, we got over her quickly. Still, Sasha stayed true to her game and didn’t let all the comparisons get to her. When the media proclaimed Kel as the prettier one, Sasha continued with her music. When the media declared Sasha “fat”, she continued with her music. All of that negative vibe made her stronger- strong enough to clinch the MAMA Awards as the best female rapper! What could be more exalting?! The media, of course, tagged along and praised her as an amazing wealth of creativity and industry. She had clearly ridiculed their initial opinions about her. She could have allowed the bitter remarks drive her into a shell, afraid to do anything that would attract criticism; but she didn’t. Instead, she took the music to another level and even embarked on other sub-businesses that launched her brand further into the consciousness of people.
3. Uche Jombo
Uche is not the prettiest face in Nollywood. As a matter of fact, the first time I saw her in a movie, I didn’t think that face or that body would take her very far. How wrong I was! Uche, as I hear, is an incredible go-getter. The hours she works at her job is startling. She is her own competition, and she works hard at it. It has paid off! Uche has bulldozed her way into relevance in the most inspiring way- making great movies and positioning her brand in a way that gathers respect and admiration. She could have remained a “regular” actress, doing “regular” movies, and being made to play the supporting role all her life because she isn’t exactly as slim as a Genevieve Nnaji or Charlize Therone. Uche played an Oprah on us: getting into the soul of business without a model size!
4. Matse
Matse may come across as arrogant, especially as she holds very extreme and intense point-of-view on issues that are usually laidback (remember the “loose celeb” debacle on twitter?), but Matse is an OAP who could walk around town in a pair of bathroom slippers and still be respected as a young lady who stays atop her job and excels above her peers. Matse made Pidgin interesting and liked, she gathered an enviable number of radio listeners when she reigned as the Queen of Wazobia FM; and when she moved to Naija Info, she did her magic in only a few weeks – getting all of Lagos tuned in. She has won numerous awards, clinching Future Awards more than once! Her views on a lot of contemporary issues may not be appreciated, but she stands by her words and because of such spirit, it becomes the truth at some point.
5. ChimamandaAdichie
Chimamanda is Nigeria’s most revered young novelist, breaking into international market, headlining and featuring in many African programmes, building the literary bridge between Africa and the diaspora. She has won many prestigious awards and has been applauded for her ingenious works. Soon, we shall get to watch the adaptation of her novel, Half Of a Yellow Sun, in Cinemas. As an academician, she may not own a pair of Louboutin, only because she may not want to; nonetheless she sparkles, just like the rest of the women listed, without one!
